Last year, Microsoft did something that goes against everything they stand for. They released a brilliant piece of software called Windows Live Writer that also happened to be totally free.
What does the software do?
It is a blogging software that you can use to write and edit posts from your desktop much in the same way as writing documents in word. The main difference is that you can use the software to upload the posts directly to your blog, edit posts that you have already posted, include links and pictures that are automatically uploaded to the Internet, edit categories and tags, and much more! You can even configure as many blogs as you want, including blogs made with WordPress, blogger, and similar services.
And, yes. I’m using it now!

I will now take a screenshot and add some comments to it. Here we go.. 1.. 2..3! This is the Norwegian version of the software, but you get the idea! you can also see the format options above the text-area. Also, the software will download your blog’s theme, so you will actually see the correct format of your blog while you read!
Now all I have to do is press the Publish button and the post will be automatically uploaded to my blog. But first I want to adjust some advanced features. You need to press the green button to activate this panel!
Advanced Features
You can use these advanced features to adjust the publishing date, set the categories and tags, enter pingback URL, choose author and many other fancy things! I set three tags: windows live writer, blogging, and productivity.
Finally: Time to press PUBLISH!
