What is Twitter?
Twitter is a micro blogging tool, and used for sending small messages to a list of friends and contacts who are interested in keeping up with what you are doing. Also, twitter is used for receiving these small messages from people you want to follow. You can also reply to these “twits” as they are called, making it possible to communicate as well.
Hints and Tips
You might want to make a separate account for your private life and business life.
Follow people, and many of them will follow you. Remove people who only promote affiliate links. Firstly, they probably have some automatic system set in place and only use twitter for marketing purposes. Secondly, it messes up the page that show recently added twits.
You can send updates to anyone who follow you each time you make a new blog post. However, keep in mind that you don’t want to spam! Be a real person who twits about cool things. Then, from time to time, you can mention your latest blog posts and recommend affiliate products and so on.
You can search for twits based on keyword. So, if your niche is related to tennis, you can search for any twits about tennis. Then, you can follow these people! See the point here? Now you can twit to people who are interested in your niche, and that might want to buy your products.
Are you a member of Alex Jeffrey’s excellent coaching program? Then you can search for “Alex Jeffrey” and find many students already twitting away. Also, head over to my twitter account and check out the people I follow, and follow some of them as well.
There are many applications that you can use with twitter. Twhirl is a desktop application that allow you to twit from your desktop. Tweetdeck are also great, but are currently in public beta and there may be some problems with the software (I haven’t encountered any). These programs also has integrated support for shortening your URL. Since you only have 140 characters available in each tweet, you don’t want to waste it on a long URL. So, with these programs, that process is automatic.

Hi Morten,
Thanks for the article on Twitter. I really didn’t have any idea what it was. Your term “micro blog” summed it up for me perfectly.
When I have a chance to go to Twitter, I will look you up. In the mean time, I have to finish the rest of my homework from Alex. I still have so many details to add to my blog.
I really want see what you do with the Web 2.o Report. I’m not sure how to set it up so that I can automatically know when the report is done. Can you tell me how to do that?
My blog is in need of someone to provide some tips about how to make it better. Can you stop by?
Thanks,
Mrs Renee Olson
